Bishop's Cake
3 eggs, well beaten | ¼ lb semi sweet choc |
1 C. gran. sugar | 2 C. coarsely chopped walnuts |
1½ sifted all purp flour | |
1½ t baking powder | 1 C. coarsely chopped dates |
Combine eggs & sugar, beat well,
sift dry ingredients together, Cut choc
size of lima beans. Add with nuts
and fruit to flour mixture. Fold into
egg mixture. Pour into 9½" x 5½" x 2¾"
greased loaf pan with bottom lined
with waxed paper. Bake 1½ hrs
in 325° oven. Serve like fruitcake.
Lemon Sweet Potatoes
6 medium sized yams or sweet potatoes | 1 to 1½ t salt |
6 Tbs butter | 2 t grated lemon rind |
6 Tbs dark brown sugar | hot milk |
Scrub potatoes, there [then] cook tender
peel, mash, beat in butter, sugar &
