Make and bake cornbread. Mean-
while melt cheese in top of double
boiler. Add milk and stir until
smooth and well blended. Add ham
string beans and sauce and beat
thoroly. Serve over squares of hot
cornbread. 4 generous portions.

Butterscotch Nut Bread


1 egg ½ t. baking soda
1 C. firmly packed brown sugar ¾ t. baking powder
¼ t. salt
1½ Tb. melted butter 1 C. buttermilk
2 C. sifted flour ½ C. chopped walnuts

Beat egg. Add sugr fradually
continuing to beat. Add butter and blend
Sift together dry ingredients Add to
egg mixture alternately with the
buttermilk and stir until mixed. Add
walnuts. Pour into greased 8½x4½2¾
loaf pan and bake in mod. oven 350°
for 1 hr or until done.
