Orange Nut Cake
½ C. shortening | 1 t. baking soda |
1 C. gran. sugar | 1 t. baking powder |
1 egg | |
2 Tb. grated orange rind | 1 C. buttermilk |
1¾ C. sifted cake flour | ½ C. chopped walnuts |
Cream shortening until light.
Gradually add sugar. Add egg and
orange rind and beat until light. Sift
together dry ingredients and add alternately
with buttermilk. Fold in nuts.
Pour into greased 8x8x2 and bake in
350° oven 1 hr or until done. Frost
with any desired icing. If served
warm pour over following sauce -
