cut butter into 1 C. flour and ¼ C. brown sugar with pastry
cutter until mixture is like coarse
corn meal. Pat this firmly into
ungreased 8x8x2 pan and bake in
350° oven for 15 min. or until
lightly browned. Meanwhile beat
eggs until light. Then
add remaining brown sugar grad-
ually, while beating with electric
beater until mixture is light and fluffy
Fold in remaining flour, sifted
with baking powder. Add vanilla
coconut and nuts and combine thoroly
Spread this over the still warm
baked mixture and bake in 350° for
20 min or until crisp and lightly
browned. While still warm cut
into 16 sqs or bars.
