and the City Council,
Fort Worth, Texas.

Gentlemen:-

Pursuant to the Resolution of the City Council of date sept. 6th,
1901, accepting the offer to sell to the City 2-1/2 acres of land, ad-
joining the old Water-works tract, and directing me to prepare and pre-
sent the necessary papers, I have to report.

I have examined an abstract of the title to this said land and find
title to the same to be well vested in Capt. M. P. Loyd. The certifi-
cate of the County Collector shows that all State and County taxes have
been paid. I submit to you herewith the abstract of title and affida-
vits and statements relating thereto and the certificate of the County
Collector.

I also submit a deed with covenants of special warranty from Capt.
Loyd, conveying the land to the City. This deed has been properly exe-
cuted and acknowledged, and the proper stamps have been affixed and can-
celled.

I recommend that, in order to carry out the purposes of the said
resolution, the City Council shall direct the City Assessor and Collect-
or of Texas to issue to the Estate of J. P. Smith, Deceased, a receipt
for taxes to the amount of $3296.29, covering the property and for the
years shown by the statements attached to said resolution, and that a
