Dear Mother & Daddy,

Meant to have this waiting for you when
you got home, but life is a little complicated
& has been intermittenly for the last
three weeks. The kids came down with some
kind of one-day intestinal flu 1/2 hr. after
we got home from Rodding. At one & two day intervals,
we got it, too - as did most parents &
kids in the neighborhood. Last Friday,
Toot woke up with a rising fever, trembling,
barely able to stand up & complaining of a
headache. The doctor said "funny kind of
flu that's going around" & gave her a shot
of phenobarb to relieve the muscular discomfort.
The fever raged all night & abated
in the early morn without breaking. The
day before yesterday one of the neighbors
had to take Marian to the doctor at the
onset of a kidney infection which still
has her laid out flat. Last night Toot came
in and woke me up with another high fever
which broke with an outpour of sweat at
around 6:30 AM - after very little sleep.
She was grouchy this AM but otherwise fine
until bedtime when we discovered she
