Fairly nice day. Betty
Ambrose away from school. Did not
go in swimming. Did maths in free
lesson. Had a easy French test in afternoon.
Finished school. Got Blouse in evening - Only 2
RAF at bible class Taffy & Leslie.

9 Fri
Cold rainy day. Did not go to
school as did not feel very well. Helped
Mummy in morning with the bedroom cleaning
Started to do another darn for school cert
but it was a failure. Did a little revision.
Ted came in evening.

10 Sat - Italy entered War, 1940
s.r. 3.43, s.s. 8.15
Cold windy day.
Helped Mummy in morning and went to
Sutton and did all the errands. Got washed
and changed in afternoon and did some
more revision. Taffy came and drove the
tractor in afternoon and evening.

Thoroughly hardened plants of Ridge Cucumbers,
Marrows and Tomatos may now be planted out in suitable
positions. The present is a good time for sowing Carrots
for storing. Continue to plant Cabbages for late summer
supplies.

Cold Districts.-Sow Turnips for storing. Plant
early Cauliflowers and Brussels Sprouts for latest
supplies.
