AUGUST 1944

20 Sun - 11th after Trinity. Ramadan begins
Wet
Showery day. Went to Sunday School in
morning and taught primary. Wrote to Peggy
in afternoon. Went to Chapel in evening
[Gerald] came with us. He & Betty & Elsie
came to supper.

21 Mon
Very hot day. Helped Mummy
all the morning. Got changed in
afternoon and read a book. Read again
in afternoon in evening and had my hair
washed. Sheila & her friend Pauline came
over from a fruit picking camp near Wisbeach

22 Tues
Miserable day. Helped Mummy
all the morning and cooked the dinner. Made
a stew. Shiela Pauline Janet & I went for
a walk in afternoon and we picked
plums in evening. Denys popped in for a
short time.

23 Wed - Soviet-Nazi Pact, 1939
Sheila & Pauline
went back to camp. Picked plums all the
morning and all the afternoon. Very
hot day. Got changed in evening &
packed my things to go to Cambridge.
Denys & Taffy came & picked plums in
evening.
