SEPTEMBER 1944

21 Thur - S. Matthew
Very foggy day. We are
all prefects in the VI form. Had two
chemistry lessons and three Biology one
did practical both times. Stayed in Ely after
school and got Janets present. Bills day off. He
bought Janet and I a RAF ring each (silver)
did homework in evening.

22 Fri - Ember Day
Didn't feel well so didn't
go to school. Lovely day, but raind in evening
Helped Mummy all the morning. She washed.
Did some homework in afternoon. Went with
Mummy, Daddy, Denys & Taffy to a musical
concert on the drome. It was lovely. Bill Taffy
and Ted came to supper.

Quite a
nice day. Helped Mummy all the morning
Cleaned the bathroom. Went to Sutton
in afternoon & did some homework. Went
blackberrying in evening with Janet. Gerald
came back from leave.

Ground recently cleared of Onions or Potatos is
admirable for planting out cabbages for spring cutting.
No preparation is necessary beyond hoeing or lightly
forking the surface.
Continue to earth Celery as the occassion demands.
If necessary prune stone fruit trees.
