9 Thur
Very cold day. Had very boring
chemistry lessons; and notes for 3 lessons
on of biology Got very fed up . Had bible
class in evening. Bill Taffy Sue & Betty
came, & Tex who has been posted, came in
for about later in the evening.

10 Fri
Very cold day. Sharp frost. Did not go
to school as had a bad cold. Helped
Mummy all the morning. Cooked the dinner.
Did a little homework in afternoon & evening.
Bill came in until seven. Went to bed very
early.

11 Sat - Martinmas (Scottish Quarter Day)
Half-Quarter Day. Remembrance Day

s.r. 7.10, s.s. 4.18
Cold day.
Helped Mummy most of
the morning. Peeled all the veges. Had a
bath in afternoon & started to write a history
essay. Continued to write essay in evening.
Bill & Taffy came in late in the evening.

This is undoubtedly the best time for planting fruit
trees and Roses. The plants then become established
before the severe weather sets in and do not suffer nearly
so much from drought the following summer as do those
planted later.
