Cousin Corrie had asparagus plants well
weeded & trimmed because the [?]
were red, & thin cut, & now new sprouts
are up, she wonders in the bed will be
injured, will report at May meeting
next spring.

Must maple trees be cut back to make
them more flourishing? Cousin Ellen said
the old rule was, trim whenever you had
a sharp knife. Some said, any time.
Uncle Fred [thinks?] spring is the best time.

Will it hurt [lillium rub?um?] roots to be
taken up now? It will not hurt.

Must you dig sweet potatoes now? Yes,
because the first frost will injure them.

Rose Gilpin went to [Capm.?] West Va by
auto, she was so impressed with the
flowers at the poorest houses, and Anna
Nesbutt was also impressed with the same
thing on a trip to Cumberland.

Clarence Gilpin & Margaret Bancroft were
asked to read at the April meeting. The
place of meeting to be decided later.

Adjourned to inspect the garden &
lawn.
