Governor Ehringhaus stated he thought it important at this
meeting to give everybody as much time within reason as he desires
in which to present his views.

Mr. J. S. Hill was recognized by the Chair and after a brief
statement presented Mr. R. H. Sykes who stated he was there as
representative of a committee of the General Alumni Association of
the University at Chapel Hill, consisting of Thos. Turner, Jr.,
L. P. Hartsell, John B. London, and R. H. Sykes, which was appointed
to study the question of moving the Engineering School from Chapel
Hill and to report its conclusions to the Board. Mr. Sykes asked
Mr. Hartsell to present the report of the Committee.

Mr. Hartsell presented the report of the Committee. (Appendix I)

Following this, Mr. J. Kenyon Wilson made a statement of his
views of the new plan of operation and favored the development of
Engineering at both Chapel Hill and State College.

Mr. Sykes next presented Mr. J.B. London who read resolutions
passed at a meeting of Engineering alumni of the University at Chapel
Hill. (Appendix II).

Mr. Sykes stated that he had other resolutions passed by
alumni associations in various parts of the country, but would not
take the Board's time to read them.

Mr. J. S. Hill read resolutions passed by the faculty of the
University at Chapel Hill, (Appendix III), which, he said in
brief, proposed the consolidation of the two engineering schools
under a unified direction whose first duty would be careful
refocusing of the resources and functions of both present engineering
schools so as to utilize the advantages of both in giving instruction
at both Chapel Hill and Raleigh.
