I walked away so as not to
listen to him. He was getting
my “goat” and I knew if I
listened to him much longer
that I wouldn’t have nerve
enough to try flying again.
He lached all of us but Townsend
who made one bad landing.
When we left he made us feel
a little better by saying thank
you fellows for your work.
Lieut. Spane said that if I
brought you out here this
afternoon in this wind that
I wouldn’t have a machine
left, and there wasen’t a
wire broken or an axel
bent. A very good record.”’
