Yours of 3rd, with newspaper
clippings rec'd, for which you have my
thanks. I have not read them yet,
but I will put them in my hat
& read them at home tonight, as I
have very little time at my office
for reading newspapers.

We are laying out considerable work
to be done in California this year &
I hope everything that we do will be
well done & at the minimum cost.
I am going to do considerable work
this side of the Mississippi myself.
