in the University's dark days,
have a closer, warmer love for her,
and a stronger, personal sense of loss.
There are now here in Sacramento
eight members of the Pioneer Class -
Samuel Simmons, Nat Ellery, O. Hopkins,
Lester Thinsdale, Maud Jones, Dorothy
Steffens Hollister, my sister and I.
Each one alike desires to express
his sorrow. Would that we
could all be at the chapel to-
morrow to pay our individual
tribute to the dead!
We have taken the privilege
of sending together a floral
offering. It carries with it
