It snowed and blew all
night long. We nearly
froze in the barracks
that we were to sleep in.
We didn't get a truck back
to town until 10 A.M.
No breakfast, and no
fire. I thought that I would
freeze sure.

January 1, 1918
Had a good turkey dinner
at the barracks. Went out
for a while in the evening,
but came home and
went to bed early, as I
was tired from ice
skating in the afternoon.
