Mahlon Kirk read an article he had
written, advising us to adopt some
measure, for the protection of shade
trees along our public highways.
This was discussed at some length.
In some states, the trees are protected
by law and in others
a premium is paid to persons
who plant trees along the
roadways. It was moved that
Dr. Kirk's plea should be printed
