fall, with safety. The scenery hare is picturesque and
the abundance of sturgeon causes it to be visited very
frequently by the Indians.

Sugar river, a considerable stream rising in Dane County fifteen miles
west from Madison and running south through the Eastern part of
Green County enters the Pekatonica in Illinois. It may
be considered as the eastern limit of the "mineral district"
as no mines have as yet been discovered, east of this
stream, although there are several near it on the
west side.
