Simon Johnson hung on until a few days before the election made Democrat speeches evidently to concentrate the party upon Cooper that party bing much the strongest in the County. At the close of the election I got more than three fourths of all the votes in the County.

I was elected principle shff 21st Oct 1819, & went out of office after making my returns to Dei Tem 1842 closed 1st Jany 1843. Making 29 years 1 month & 14 days I was a publick officer in Maury County.
