& the Nashville Union published in their papers to vote for the Union was giving aid & comfort to the enemy, or to vote with a closed ticket would be a Surcumstance of disloyalty to the Southern Confederacy [hand pointing] Was this right or Wrong

The Southern Confederacy distroyed & shelled Fort Sumpter a fort built by the Gov. of the U.S. to protect agt Forrin enemies, & killed and wounded the soldiers therein that was placed there by the Govrment & was not doing them any harm. this was the Commencement of this awful condition of our Country [hand pointing] Was this Write or Wrong

The southern troops located in and took possession of Kentucky with the purpose of subjecting her in to secession districting the State into Congressional Dists electing members in there there Congress all befor Kentucky had Seceded from the Union passing laws making these Citizens Subject to the penal laws of the Southern Confederacy, while she had never by her people or Legislature had ever Seceded. [hand pointing] Was this right or wrong

After batting down fort Sumpter they threatened to distroy Washing City in 30 days & left for the Capitol with 30,000 soldiers & was stopt in sight of the Capitol (on the Irlington Heights) all this time no attempts was made to do them the least injury
