27 July Wrote a letter to William

Augt 1st Brandshaw W Porter got home this day upon payrole I met him at Jus Akins My meeting him was Joy unspeakable but in a few minnits it was much depress in consequence of the absence of Thomas, yet in prison.

Augt I have thrashed out my wheat 20 acres and only got 91 bushels ( a very poor turn out ) I got two stacks of oats off 12 acres (killed with the rust) I saved it but it was but little act

14 Augt Fanna & her little children came Thursday the 14 Augt & Fanna wrote to Thomas Fanna went home Sat 16 & William went with her

Sept 1st The Fedrels together with Genl Negley and Staff all left Columbia, morning about day light On Monday the 1st day of Septr. 1862 & took all the flour salt shugar coffee & candles & Bacon &c with them left non for sale in Columbia

Sept 2d The Confederates Biffles Cavalry all came into Town Tuesday
