the 2d day Sept 1862 & camped at Whites Spring abt 500 of them
Sat Sept 6 The Confederates all left Columbia some North and some South (in the evening) they had been reinforced by recruiting
1862 Sept 4th Capt Williams Confederate Capt & 15 men came to my house on Thursday the 4th Sept at sunset and pressed & asked & got there Supper & horses fed (pressed)
1862 Sept 8 Joseph Mitchel & son stopt and got there horses fed Monday 8 left up the creek & for the South (pressed)
9. Tuesday the Fedrels on there rode from Pulaski
Wed 10 The Fedrels 10,000 in No passed on the Polaskee Turnpike from the South & camped on the North side of the river The Confederates fighting them from each side of the rode & behind them for several miles & until they got to Columbia
Not much damage done to either side
1862 Th 11 The Fedrals went on to Nashville the Confederates following them they burned down Davess Mill shooting at the Confederates in the morning the guns are heard at a distance on the rode toward Nashville
1862 11th Maryann & William her son was here for dinner
Sept 20th 1862 I baught 1000 lbs of Bacon of Cical Bigbigby at $15.00 pr 100 $150.00 I have at this time of my own bacon 9 good Medlens
