1862 Sept 25 Thursday I loaned George Marten $5.00 George Marten (Son of Judge Marten) came to Town to day said his father had told him if he did not start off to the Army of the Southern Confederacy on the next day he should leave his house he could not stay there , he had not one dollar in the World but few clothes & no bridle & was trying N Bradshaw & others to get him a bridle said his father would do nothing for him

1862 Oct 2nd Thursday Fanna & her 2 little children came Miss Rosa Webster came with them they stayed until Monday the 6th Oct. [pointing hand] Give Fanna while here $10.00 Fanna got a letter from Thomas Monday 6th Oct (Jackson Miss)

1862 Oct 3rd Friday night Capt Williams & others of the Confederate Army burned my house in the Cedars near Colliers upon the act. of Clark Wortham having been moved in to it, altho I never give Worotham leave to do so they said nothing to me about it until it was over nor then neither afterwards

Oct 8th Tues. Biffles Cavalry got in to a fight with the fedrals 13
