[March] 2nd. Took a load mouving to Bigbigby

March 4th. [hand pointing] The Canons are heard firing near Franklin this morning for several hours. Some fighting different reports nothing defonnit.

[March] 4th. Thomas took off two loads of furnature & other things this morning for big bigby Thomas went back to Bigby

5 [hand pointing] Our soldiers have given back this side of Spring Hill (different reports)

March 5. The faithful old Setter Slut commonly called Mat departed this life on this day Thursday the 5th day of March 1863. She was black & the Mother of some fine setters her self was unequled in the field in seting birds. She was a greate favourate & her loss was truly regretted by the whole familiy White & black. She is burried in the peach Orchard with Apropriate head And foot stones to Mark her resting place . May she rest in peace - - She belonged to Thomas L. Porter She came to her death by the kick of a horse ^{Jim} lived about one hour after the fatal blow - - She was about 14 years old and had lost her hearing . Went by signs.
