1863 Apl 10 Some fighting in the Town of Franklin. Our soldiers were enduced to think that Franklin was evacuated by the Fedrels they made a charge in to Town & was badly cut up The Feds had secreted themselves in the houses & fired out of the Windows loss verry heavy

1863 Apl 23 I had some little soreness and pain in my eyes during the night last night This morning I arose and discovered I did not need my spectacles, read a page in a book of small print, could see the twigs on the trees & the boys near a half mile where they were plowing & distinguish them from each other, without spectacles

May 15th Mary took dinner to day & William went home with her this evening & came home Monday
