July Th 16 Will Henry got home from Thos L Porters about 12 oclock says the Fedrels was at the Websters yesterday took there stock of horses mules & negroes as well as Thomass mules & horses & Maryanns Mules horses & negroes & said he learned they were fighting down in Lawrence County within Biffles Cavalry yesterday evening Thomas L. Porter mules & stock are not taken but Maryanns Many of them are gone .

About 2 oclock Mary & her son Willis came in some trouble Had been following the Yankeys for 2 days left them in Bigbyville We left my house 3 ½ oclock in the evening got on there track at James Canon folowed on through Calaoca & on to near Mooresville We left there train & turned off & stayed all night at William Holts. Left the next morning got a head of them & entersect them in Mooresville. Mary stayed at that place & I went on to Cornersville We got the boy Tom two mules & the sorrel Carrage horse got a recpt from the quartermaster for $1400 for to pay for the (1863 July 18) Mules & horses that we did not git I came back to Mooresville found Mary at Ashly Moores left here there until morning & I
