After leaving Mooresville we was acosted by a Southern soldier Gurilla who stopt me and asked my name I give it to him & asked his name he refused at first telling it saying that he understood I was puswading Picke to take the oath of alegience to get his property I denied it, said I did not perswade him any way but told him that others was doing so & if he did so it was more than likely he would get it Many others were doing so who had taken the oth that was then & had been good Southern men he made some threats about the Guerellas taking my property. I demanded his name & got out of my bugg & told him I would know it , he then told me his name was Lowrey & that he was glad that he had had an explanation that he would inform the Gurellas which he had no doubt would be satisfactory to them & him We then parted , I saw on my way Overton Flemings Son who also told me the gurellas were ensensed at me for telling Picking what I did or what they was told I did ^{he said Baxter was one that threatened me} * I had said told young Flem what I had said to Pickins & he appeared satisfyed & said he had not believed it .
