Th 23rd Maryann coame & left after dinner No news that are reliable this morning , from any quarter in the fore part of the day.

Carson Mack came after dinner says the Southern Gurellas are committing considerable depredations stealing Robbing plunddering &c They are all around and about Town (Contridictary reports.

1863 Fri 24 July We are plowing up our turnip patch ground doing it verry well News of the defeat of Genl Morgan in Indianna & the Morgan Capture of his men of his as prisoners
The Fedrals again came into Columbia about 12 oclock to day & returned back to the North side of the river to Camp in Mrs. Browns lott. They done no damage as I learn in Town, but injured Mrs Brown materially on the North side of the river. Greate excitement. Every body seems to be in [hand pointing] trouble Many leaving trying to git off there property & them selves the best they can Greate distress & trouble in all the Country around us

Sat 25. [hand pointing] Thomas & Fanna & little children came before dinner Sat 25. 1863 & left for Bigbigby Sunday morning the 2 - Augt.
1863 Sat 25) No particular news this morning A dark & Gloomey morning. Commenced raining slow but steady at 9 ½ oclock A.M. - It is understood the Fedrals have left & gone North this morning & some of our soldiers have gone with them to Join there Armey.
