1863 Augt Sunday 16. The morning is cloudy and verry calm No particular news from last night, only we hear of some negroes still going off. It thundered and liteninged verry much in the evening but little or no rain - Our negroes are all getting along as usual only there is but verry little doing in the way of working
Mon. 17 The sun rose clear & calm, weather, but little news of the neight the gurellas having caught some of the negroes that were running off a few days ago Which I think some og the rest have taken a scare We sent J. H. Thomas 2 horse Waggon home While J. W. Thomas was fox hunting him & his boys in the barrens the Fedrals took many things & his negroes left leaving his wife verry much distressed by her self
