Thurs.24 I stayed home all day No particular news A greate many reports of the greate battle fought South of Chatanuga on Sat 19th Sun 20th of Sept inst see my dream written down Sun 20th- Where thousands were killed on all sides
Friday 25. I went to Town got the news & papers the loss on the Southern side reported 5,000 & on the Northern side 7,000. Seven Begadeer Genl killed & 5 wounded Preston Smith amongs the killed on the Southern side, did not learn those of the North
1863 Sept Sat 26th I stayed home all day Not verry well no particular news extreamly dry weather
Sun 27 A little cool no frost No particular news I am a little unwell with a bad cold
A letter sent from John Mayes to Saml Mays from Memphis informed us of the good health of Martha Jane She had been there at Memphis
Mon 28th I went to Town never got out of my bugga quite unwell asll day & all night, turned warmer. Clear & verry dry the turnips some are drying out
Killed a beef weighs about 600
