Friday Oct 9 th. I went to Town I could not git any more of my boys off they are working on the fortification They promise to send them back soon I think they don't intend it Great uneasiness round about the Town & Vicinity on all sides many reports. Shelbyville appears to have been much injured & burned up by the Southerners They took Shelbyville but it was retake n again. One of the Tennessee Regts was captured at or near Farmington some of them got away from the Fedrals
