1863 Mon 12th Oct. The morning is cloudy & threatening rain. Contradictory reports. The Fedrels have again left Town yesterday gone towards Franklin with the prisoners they had caught yesterday There is considerable trouble amongst the friends of the prisoners that was caught the last few days.

Anthony & Read I went to Town rained verry hard Anthony & Read got home through the rain broke down & Read lame & Preston was left behind No word of him left probably at Franklin A greate many contradictory reports

Tu 13 (Preston) I got ready & in my bugga to go to hunt Press after early breakfast & Preston cam as I was leaving which disappointed me in the trip I went to Town news came that the Fedrels overtook Wheelers forces while crossing the Tennessee river and took 180 prisoners and news that Co1 Monroe of Gen Wiles division was killed at Farmington a few days ago (It again rained to day) News that the Fedrel troops that followed Wheeler was returned to Franklin Pulaskie

Wed 14th Oct) The morning is cloudy dark and raining No particular news from the night before We are expecting a fight every day at Chatanuga All sides appear to be reinforcing William made himself a pair of shoes & Jim made Anthony a pair
It has rained all this day & all night No particular news The Ferels that were at Pulaskie a few days ago is either there yet (4,000) or gone some where not yet known.
