1863 Decr. Wed 2 William J. Porter came the over night to Town the river high & could not cross for the Wagons
I went to Town found Maryann there give her the recpt for her Voucher that I got in Nashville No particular news any soldiers coming in & giving up & taking the oath
Th 3 I went to Town Westly Due went in give him self up & took the oath. No particular news only the Fedrel forces falling back to Chatanuga & Bragg keeping on South.
Fr. 4. Clear & pretty weather Commenced falling in Corn out of the field next the Garden with both Wagons
Sat 5. No particular news only the last fight the 25th was verry disterours to the Confederates & they are still giving back into Georgia
Sun 6th. Decr 1863) I stayed at home all day The news are the Fedrels Gen Dodges Brigade are taking every thing they can get broke up to G W C Patton & others. Create uneasiness and distress amongst the Citizens, terable calamity acasioned by the [hand pointing] Giles County raids & foregenes (foraging) William not so well
Mon 7 I went to Town The Congress of the U.S. sets to day greate interest Maifest about what they will do relative to the awful condition of the Country, A greate many soldiers coming in to day Surrendering & taking the oath. It rained a little all day & some last night every things looks dull
Tu 8th & Gloomey I have made & parched a good cup of Coffee thinking after I drunk it I will feels in better spirits probably
