March Sat 19 I went to Town W J went & on to Nashville Jack also in Town 14 Michigan) his wife stay at our house He returned at night I found the soldiers Myser Col &c that has been occupying the Town preparing to leave Some few went on in the Cars the others are to leave Monday They are desirous to stay if they had a chance they regret verry much to leave I got a rect for the purchase of the Government horse from the quarter Master that I bought the 24 Dec last. -

Sun 20th A verry pretty day No particular news It is some cooler No particular news

Mon 21. I went to Town No pickets out all left. Majr Fitsgibbon & some of the officers yet in Columbia A Meeting of the Citizens (Town Meeting) was held passed resolutions commendatory of the officers & soldiers 14th Michigan Fitsgibbin responded

1864 March Tu 22 I went to Town (Cold day) No particular news, rumor of there fighting at Decator, & Forrest a corssing the Tennessee at Russelsburg Not believed Majr Fitsgibbons & one Company of his command yet at Columbia the rest all gone ( Puss verry sick )

Wed 23. The weather some little moderated The ground froze in the morning. ( Thomas L Porter came while we were at dinner ) ( Went home next day Thursday )
