rested verry badly last night. All hands trying to work but it is hard work to do it. Commenced making a Cole pit & running 4 plows in the field next Town. -

Tu 12 I rested extremely bad all night My breast & throat is verry bad & cough is verry severe with some fever Kept my bead nearly all day Could not swallow but verry little & like to suffocate when lying Verry dificult of breathing &c

1864 Wed 13 Apl I was bad off all night could not rest, Strangling & Suficating all last night with some fever Cough not much better this morning, rested verry bad all night, but some better this morning. Still plowing beding up Corn ground & making a Cole pit (Margaret Porter still here) I have not been in Town since last week I hear there are a greate many soldiers encamped all round Town reinforced. Sowed some onion seed in Garden.

(Th 14 I went to Town and found there was much confusion amongst the Tennessee troops that are holding the post (Col Brown & Col Patton) and the Ohio & Indianna troops They had been firing upon one another killed some & wounded others Much heated feelings between the troops of the North and the troops of the South upon the slavery Question.

Friday 15 I stayed at home all day We finished off my bugga painted &c
