We finished beding up the two fields next Town yesterday & are at the field next the pawn No particular news A verry greate many soldiers ariving & passing some to the South & some to the North & many staying & encamping all round Town
We are making a Cole pit

Sat 16 I went to Town, Election for Mare & Alderman. I found the Tennessee troops that was commanding the post had been ordered off back towards Franklin & the 3d Ohio taking there place. Genl Gerrard in Command The Tennessee troops are leaving to day. There are much dissatisfactions amongst the troops & the Citizens much displeased at the change. Greate excitement about the Negro Schools in the Town. I was subpoened as a Jury to the Fedrel Courts Monday Too unwell to go, bad cold & sore throat.

1864 Apl. Sun 17 Apl) I rested badly all last night Sore throate, Cough & cold It was verry cold all last night & the wind blew verry cold for a while this morning. Leonard Parks stayed last night
There are a greate many troops still coming & going News of a considerable slaughter amongst the Fedrel troops by Genl Forrest Command at Fort Pillow particularly amongst the black soldiers & there Officers

Mon 18 I went to Town took Parks with me he stayed to go on the Cars to Nashville the next morning Maryan came to my house
