Captured 5 Wagons 8 Mules one Fedrel & shot & wounded two
Negroes in the Cedars near the Goff Spring Greate excitement
& running amongst the Negroes that were there cutting Cross
tyes No other particular new

Fri 27 Williams / See 16 March / Matilda / plowing
All hands at work but with much reluctance Viney &
Adaline scraping Cotton the 1st they have done this year. William
went to Maryanns after breakfast this morning Matildas sick
Saul sick They have finished runing round the field next
the pawn & commenced in the field next the barn at 10 oclock
to day - finished at night

May 27th 1864 Hughes [in margin sideways A. M. Hughes posted] / planting / plowing
A. M. Hughes got (yesterday & the day before) 36 tubs
of Corn at $.80 Cents per bushel The Tub holds 1 bushel &
4 Gallons which is 1 1/2 bushels each Tub full
1/2 36 tubs is 54 bushels
18 80 cents
54 bushel $43.20
There was 3 Waggon loads each held 12 tubs full
Not much news I stayed at home Finished planting the North
West field yesterday & finished plowing round the field next
the barn run round all on the east Side of the rode

Sat 28 May
All hands stopt work because it is Saturday Clear calm
