A verry pretty day all hands at work, plowing in the
Locust Hill field. I stayed at home Nothing definate only
they are expecting to fight South & East.

Wed 1st June
1 went to Town with J H Thomas Greate preperation for
fighting on the Patomac Lee is said to be giving back so
is Johnson Commenced plowing in the field next Town this
evening

Th 2nd Cabbages / Bradshaw More Sulavan Smiser Canon Burk &c / Parks
I stayed at home It rained a little shower We have
planted out near 2000 Cabbage plants & runing 8 plows & work-
ing in the Shop There is $3600 Tax layed on the Neighbors
near to where the Gurrillas took off the Mules burned 5
Waggons took off a Yankey &c & 3 Negroes.
Leonard Parks stayed last night

Fr 3d Mary / Parks
I went to Town found Maryann there She is uneasy about
her Cotton No veryy particular new Genl Lee is near
Richmond & Genl Grant is Close upon his heels. Leonard Parks
left this morning for Nashville.

1864 June Sat 4th Rain / Jack
It rained a heavy rain last night & rained on until 12
oclock A verry good season, too wet to plow Nothing doing
to day Jack Porter went to Lawrence (Th 2d) took his wife
with him. - Showry all day I stayed at home all day

Appearance of rain & no news I have been reported by
W H Pillow in Louisville Kentucky to Genl Nugley & in Nashville
