The morning is a little cloudy We have no news, every
thing is still & but few people a stir. No one is permitted to
pass the pickets either way I got this morning 246 lbs of
bacon of J. W. B. Thomas 15 cents

At 10 1/2 Oclock this morning the Canons are heard firing
at or near the other side of Columbia on the East side of it,
& at this time 11.20 still firing. A few Minnite before 12 the
firing all ceased

We have heard nothing from it nor have we seen a single
one passing up to this time 12 oclock

Wm Matthews Jas Young Dick McCanless, Tyler Jas W B Thomas
all came during the evening & Jack Porter & Wife also came.
From all we can gather the Confedrets tore up the rail rode
between Franklin & Nashville & on there return back a fight
ensued at or near Franklin & on this side of the Town which
was the Canons firing this morning that we heard The particulars
not yet heard (I have made this entry 8 oclock at Night)

Green & George left the Town and came home this morning
Just before the Canons commenced firing.

Sat 3rd / Jack & Wife / A O Williams / Wheat
There is no news heard since last evening. The weather
is extreamly warm & clear Jack & Wife & Williams A. O. stayed
with us last night. Jack went to Town We run our Wheat through
the Wheat fan, it is much damaged.
