It rained slowly all night and still raining this morning
We have got no news from the previous night up to 9
oclock. I went as far as the pickets on my way to Town The
pickets did not think it safe to go to Town as orders were
that no one should come out I met on the rode Genl Rousaus
Brigade going South They have been passing all morning.
News that the Confeds have crossed to the South of Ten river
& having taken with them 2700 prisoners. Some fighting but
cannot learn the particulars It has sprinkled rain all day
(fine mist) the boys are trying to get up Wood, too wet to
gather Corn

expect some fighting soon in the front Greate preperations
are making for some hard work soon. I sent Saul to Town he
could get no papers, News &c The Citizens many of them he
says are there & can not get out Orders that no one pass in
or out only for the Doctor. Saul went for a sick little Negro
Went through the lines & back by 9 1/2 oclock
Adalines babe died Just after dark. News that there are a
greate many Confeds Crossing the Tennessee River yesterday &
to day Genl Rousaw is gone South a fight is on hands some where
about here shortly. It has rained all this day Not hard
