Distress / preperation for battle / people are running / I am troubled for my children / trouble
Genl Rousaw is stationed at Columbia desided to make this
head quarters & he left the next day
There is greate distress and trouble all round us The
Southern Armey is aproaching near us but a few miles apart
& our neighborhood right between them. There is greate danger
of life & the destruction of property all annxiously Wating
the issue. Some are getting off North from all round abot
Columbia O What I would give for peace one time more in our
troubled land. My heart throbs & Akes & I cant sleep nor rest
day nor night My dear children God, please, protect & defend
them from danger

It is still raining this morning the Wind is from the
West & N.W. and quite cool & chilla We have no more news
than we had last night

Jacks Wife went home & Jack got home to Laniers Maryann
was in Town No particular news The pickets are camping at
the Brick Shed & in the land between here and the Creek
burning the railes feeding & wasting the Corn
1864 Novr Sun 6 / Pickets / rain / eat dinner
Cloudy & verry windy Turned warm commenced rain at
night No particular news the Pickets are still in our lane
Three Soldiers the Clerks at the provosts office eat there
dinner
