It has been drisiling rain all night last night, this
morning before day the clouds shifted to the North & West &
turned quite cold and commenced Snowing about sun rise At 8
oclock the snow is coming from the North & the ground quite
covered with Snow.
We are trying to kill a few hogs & get Wood My hand
is paining me verry much this morning tho it is I think
healing. Saul went to Town braught the Jornal No particular
new in it It is verry cold I learn that Jas H Thomas Wm
S Fleming Barkley Martin L D Myers & Squire Frierson were
arrested & sent to Nashville Cause not known they are all
released

It is extreamly Cold this morning Snow on the ground
wind high & from the North. A greate many Wagons & Camps
at the forks of the rode this side of Town burning up the
fences What little are left. Hard work to get wood the little
Negroes I fear will suffer
Greate excitement with regard to Genl Shermans operations
in the South & some peace prospects are entertained tho I fear
