Sevier County 6th April 1826-

Dear Sir

William Ellis who was appointed at the last session of the legislature to class that portion of the lands South of French Broad and Holston which lies in the County of Sevier declines accepting of that appointment I therefore recommend to your Confidence George Rogers, who is a man every way qualified to discharge the duties of that office, and will, I am authorised to say, accept if appointed-
