Dear Sir, I recd by Mr Catron your letter of the 3rd Inst inclosing to me a commission of Circuit Judge via N W Williams Esqr - I take this method of informing the governor through you that I have con =sented to accept the same-
You will please tender to his Excellency my respectful acknow=ledgements upon his arrival at [of?] the seat of government, and accept sir the sincere regard of your obt servt

Dear Governor
I would long since have written to you, but the subject was rendered unnecessary by Col Ward's declining a Poll. I saw soon after your departure from this place Mr Catron, from the upper Circuit, and he said in White, Overton, &C that you would get three fourths of all the Votes, let who would after. This I would have written long since but I thought you would have neither trouble nor un= easiness.I supposed, when you had opposition that you would feel anxiety, but I really did not suppose, for one moment, that you need apprehend defeat.
I do not know at this time of anything to communicate, that will interest you at this time, - as for myself I am moving on in the business of the Law and do better than I had hoped at the start I am not idle nor lazy, and you will remark a change in this
You may suppose my
