Knoxville 6th June 1798

Sir

The Commissioners have requested the Indians to meet them meet them assemble near Tellico blockhouse On the 25th Instant, and it is supposed that the Treaty will be held at or near that place

I have an thought it would be proper for the agents to attend at this place on the 20th ^instant at which time you will please to give your attendance, in order that you may receive ^your further instructions, and deliberate, together on the business of your Agency -

I have the honor to be sir With great regard & much Esteem Your mo. Ob. Servt

His Excelency [sic] William Carroll. We the undersigned Citizens of the County of White, Within the bounds of Captain John Markhams Company of Militia, labour under disadvantages, from our remote situation from a Justice of the Peace owing to the resent [sic] removal from the County of Joseph Franks Esqr as appears from the clerks Certificate, which removal took place about the close of the last session of the legislature. we therefore hope your excelency [sic] will appoint and Commission George Ailsworth a Justice of the Peace dureing [sic] the recess of the Legislature, in whose skill and integrity, we have had hetherto the strongest proofs of, in the commission of the Peace, and many other occasions And we your Humble Petitioners as in duty bound will every pray
