Saml Houston Govenor of the State of Tennessee ~

We the undersigned Citizens of Stewart County do represent to your Excelency that William Bayliss former Surveyor of Said County departed this life on the 3rd Inst We do therefore recommend Majr John Bracow ^for this protem appointment to your Excelency, as a suitable person to fill the Vacancy - he is a young man Well qualified to perform the duties of a Surveyor, and of a good moral Charactor.
