these having several important Chancery Causes here & being the only Counsel im =ployed on that side it is very impor= tant to my clients that I should attend said Court; and there being several Capital state Causes in the Circuiut Court in Humphreys County I could not think of holding the appointment and not attending said Court; as I believe that all public officers should first discharge the duties of the office & then attend to his private interest. If you make the appointment on the 15th of march the mail will leave Nashville on that day at 2 oclock for Reynoldsburg, where it will arrive on the morning of the seven =teenth which will be the first day of the Circuit Court there, the County Court of Carroll will adjourn on Thursday or friday before the 15th of march, by your notifying the person that you will give the appointment to, that he may attend at Reynolds= =burg & receive his commission a proper officer will be there to discharge the duties of said office, all the persons who intend to apply will do so by the first day of next month, that you will have ten or twelve days to
