=ers and other swindlers. and bringing them to Justice. But it may be said that Gov. Carroll has had this Case before him and has acted on it - In answer to this I have only to state that Gov. Carroll expressly denies having acted in the case and also that he intended it should pass into the hands of his Successor - And in addition to this I say and refer to the letters furnished by myself, ^that this is a much stronger Case than that before Gov. Carroll - Again the prayer of the petition is for a general pardon. I now present the Case in a twofold aspect and pray a general or limitted pardon as the merits of the Case may authorize
I have thus submitted to your excellency a brief view of this unfortunate affair - and await your decission, with the firmest reliance that you will governed in making it, by the highest regard to correct principles.
