In the House of Representatives Thursday 5th Decr 1799
Resolved that commissioners be appoined on the part of this State to confer with such as may be appointed on the part of the State of Tennessee on the subject of opening a communicaiton and laying out a road along the nearest and most convenient rout [sic] between the two States; and that the Honorable George Walton Thomas P. Carnes and James Fielder be and they are hereby appointed commissi =onres for that purpose and that they be requested to report specially thereon to the next Legislature The above is a true Extract from the Journal Griffin L. STATE OF GEORGIA.
IN SENATE, 9th November, 1814.
Resolved by the Senators and Representatives of the state of Georgia in General Assembly met, That our Senators in Congress be instructed, and our Representatives be requested to use their best endeavors to prevail upon Congress to propose to the several states, for their adoption, an amendment to the Constitution of the United States, to reduce the term of service of the Senators in Congress from six to four years.
Resolved, That His Excellency the Governor be requested to transmit copies of the foregoing Resolution to the Executives of the different states with a request that they be laid before the Legislatures of the several states, and also one copy to each member of the Senate, and each member of the House of Representatives from this state, in the Congress of the United States.
