sir Last Sunday evening some Villains stole from Mr John Kains custody three of the Chickasaw Horses, and from circumstances Ihave reason to suspect three men by the names of Andrew Scott John Scott, and one Donalson; accordingly Ihave applied for a warrant from Mr Greer who readily granted it, but that the pursuit may be more advantageously pursued: I have desired Mr Owens and Kain who have undertaken the business to apply to your excellency that they may bec clothed with sufficient Power from

Robt Boyce John Scott saith that on the 18th day of March last he met Joseph Conway with a negro Boy by the name of Warner which Boy he understood Robert Boyce purchased of a certain William Stapp some time since, & Understood said Conway he was taking said Boy to the State of Tennessee at his said Conways residence that he met sd Conway early in the morning something like an hour after sun ^rise about five miles from the crab Orchard and about thirty five miles from Harrodsburg which is about four miles nearer then the Residence of said Boyce where this deponant [sic] understands he lives

Indictment for the murder of Negro Stephen a slave the property of Samuel Bailey the presence at the Barr was heretofore arr= =eigned and upon his arreignment plead not Guilty. Whereupon the following Jury of good and lawful men was impannelled and sworn the truth to say on this issue, of [Travis?] joined between the State and the presence at the Barr, to Wit,
